From its beginnings, Zydeco music has always been the music of the rural Creoles of SW Louisiana. As times have changed, the music has changed as well. Today, there are few bands continuing to play traditional Zydeco music, singing in the local Creole French and telling the stories of the rural Creole Culture. ZYDECO JOE has persevered and resisted the temptation to change. His desire to keep performing Zydeco in its purest form has paid off, as he has garnered notoriety worldwide.
Until recently, Zydeco Joe rarely performed far from his Louisiana home. However, over the last few years, he has begun to branch out, performing from coast to coast, gaining new fans at every stop. This year will also mark his first European tour, as he travels to France for several performances. Zydeco Joe was also honored to be one of the featured artists in the award-winning documentary Marooned which told the story of the Creole experience in America.
Although it has been a long time coming, Zydeco Joe is finally getting the exposure and accolades that he has earned.
